How to heal yourself: Easy Steps to Self Healing

This morning, I woke up to a beautiful, rain-laden skyline. Hidden from the scorching sun, the clouds look serene. In a way, we are not different from these clouds.  As the day progressed, the day seemed to alter my happy energy.
[READ: Lost someone you loved? and The Wisest Lesson I learned]

We are affected by the energies of the people we interact with. Wondering how to heal yourself when tackling negative energy? Self healing is possible. Your next question may be: Can you heal yourself with your mind? Of course you can!

In fact, each person you meet and interact with leaves their own unique energy signature on you. That is why some people 'drain' your energy whereas others 'fuel' and 'lift' your energy, so always identify and pay attention to these energies that you can tune into.

Children, on the other hand, are quick to spend time with those they enjoy being with. They play only with others whom they have a good time with. If you observe children closely, you can understand how wise they are when it comes to protecting their boundaries.

Recently, I have read somewhere that the Buddhists say that if you meet somebody and then your heart pounds, your hands shake or tremble or your knees turn weak, they caution you: 'That's not the one."

In relationships, always pay attention to those who make our strengths feel diminished.

Learn to accept that difficult people and difficult moments are important in your life for a specific reason. They help us to heal ourselves through whatever situations challenge and hurt our sense of well being. Just witness what it is that triggers wounds within you - is it their rejection or the sense of being taken advantage of or the fact that they don't give a damn about you at all?

Remember, it is never about pointing fingers to blame anyone. Somewhere, your energies didn't match. That's it, move on and don't give more attention or emotion into what has already been rejected at an energy level.

Do your best and offer it to your Divine Self. As my Guru reminds us always, "Help ever, Hurt never."

Make sure that YOU do not HURT anyone. [Read: Treat EGO with LOVE]

Every relationship is an exchange of energies - we give our energy, we accept another's into our emotional space. We give other people the power to hurt us.
Remove their energy from your mind and heart space. They cannot hurt you.

Remember, little hurts pile up because you care deeply. These wounds take time to heal. The wounds within the mind and the heart are the hardest to heal. Once your heart feels cracked, it becomes painful to trust, not just others, but your own Self again.

A disconnect with your own Self leaves a chasm within that makes one wiser in a bittersweet way and more wary of what the world holds. These wounds mark you forever because you learn to stop trusting people. There comes a time when boundaries become essential because you no longer want to be taken for granted and you want your space to feel sacred and respected for your own peace of mind.

Enjoying the beautiful skyline today, I want to tell you to:

Accept yourself as you are. You are a Divine being in a human frame.

Don't complain to others about what hurts you.

In your energy, be positive, specific and rational.  Learn to behave.

Travel within. Witness your toughest moments, be detached.

Send out tons of love-filled energy to those who have hurt you.

None of this is easy to do.

Simply accept and witness, that is enough to heal your wounds. It' s okay to feel wounded, don't feel stuck in that stagnant space for too long, that is all.

To be very thoughtful of whom we share our vulnerability with - this is the second most precious learning that I have learned.

Guard your heart always. Fill it with love that flows to the Universe.

Step out of your suffering. Look at the sunshine, feel the joy of Nature.

Now it's your turn to tell me something I don't know about.

What has been the most beautiful life lesson that has helped you to heal yourself?

The Ugly Truth about Caste in Kerala

Many years ago, when I wrote this post on Kerala's caste system, I had not considered that people would start sending in abusive comments about one caste over the other. It baffles me that this is how Indians, all of us, continue to judge each other on account of caste differences.  [ READ: Guru Kripa: Powerful Lessons at the Lotus Feet ] My question is - why do you ABUSE any caste or community? I suggest that you read about the lives of great Masters and their stories - none of them judged anyone on the basis of caste.  You can read the life stories of Sri Adi Shankara Bhagawadpada, Tulsidas, Jnaneshwar, Namadev, Sri Aurobindo, Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Paramahansa Yogananda, Shirdi Sai Baba, and many more Gurus in Sanathana Dharma. NONE of them endorse these caste hierarchies in Bhakti Marga.
