An easy guide for Muggles: Three Ways to embrace a Happier Self

For those who are struggling every day to ''lift" themselves on the spiritual path, it is a constant struggle because there are so many levels to juggle. The relationships that we co-create with others, the experiences of conflict and disappointment that it often brings and the attachment we place on the results of our actions - it is NOT easy at all to balance these things or to stay detached from what is happening. So, how do you embrace a happier self on the path?                                           (Image Credit: Pexels) Meditation Every religion advocates contemplation of God and to bask in Higher Awareness of the Creator who may be referred to in different names and forms. What happens within you when you meditate

Long before sitting in meditation became something fashionable as it is today, meditation was a way of life for spiritual souls who longed  to still the restless mind. The Rishis sat in meditation for hundreds and thousands of years so that they could listen to the Word of God from within them. From the Word of God they heard, we received priceless gems of spiritual treasures in the form of Vedas, Upanishads, mantras. It is said that even Lord Buddha had experimented with over ten thousand techniques in meditation! Okay, I must say that I don't have any "proof" but that's the buzz in the spiritual realm. While many of us struggle with it, it helps to understand what happens inside us when we meditate.  Whenever I meditate, my experience varies from day to day. There is just one exception though. I always see a lotus with baby pink  petals  blossom in my heart region and as I meditate, the petals turn a pale, beautiful gold. Following this, I se...

How to practice silence on a daily basis and what to learn from the experience

A Hebrew teaching by the sage Hillel the Elder: "If I am not for myself, who will be for me?" (Tiny Buddha) I am not a quiet person by nature. I love to talk. I keep talking with those I am close to. Sometimes I think my mind and voice can never remain still.  I am the chatterbox in the family but family members say that wherever I go, I make it a festive celebration of sorts. So, you can imagine how difficult it can be for some one as talkative as me to practice silence on a daily basis. But if I can do it, be assured that you will be able to do so too.    [READ: What are Tantric Practices?
