Ranam Detroit Crossing Movie Review: Prithviraj-Rahman deliver powerful performances in this gangster saga

After Mumbai Police, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Rahman are back together in this thriller! Nirmal Sahadev's directorial debut 'Ranam', starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Rahman, Isha Talwar and Nandu, is an ambitious, powerful and disturbing thriller. It revolves around an unusual theme - Detroit's underworld. The narrative opens up with gripping questions. What does Detroit mean anymore to the world?  What hopes and dreams can immigrants have in a city where drug wars are a daily affair and violence is a way of life? Right from the beginning of the film, the helplessness of Indian immigrants is evident, when Prithviraj's voice over brims with sombre tones about the lost glory of Detroit. You are unknowingly pulled into the gloom and despair the city's dark images evoke. Ranam Story 'Aadhi' (starring Prithviraj) is Detroit's best known getaway driving champion and he deals with deadly party drugs. I am not entirely thrilled...

Anarkali Malayalam Movie Review: Prithviraj at his best, Biju Menon & Suresh Krishna bring on brilliant performances

Directed by Sachy, Anarkali  is a beautiful love story.  Not saying this because of the Prithvi-Priyal deep kiss. Nope.  While the duo were smooching away on screen of course (no decent flowers coming to cover the screen - where have the blasted flowers vanished to, they always popped up on time when I was a kid!!!) I was too busy covering my curious 9 year old son's eyes!  Anarkali Story Coming back to the movie, I watched  it because it is a classic love story about a young man from the Navy who falls in love with the daughter of his senior officer and he pays the price for one dangerous kiss with his life. His search for the girl he loves forms the crux of this love story.  His final attempt leads him to the beautiful island of Lakshadweep, where he works as a diving instructor. The island is known for being a place of goodness and simple living - where there are actually no crimes and therefore, the prison is close...

Mumbai Police Movie Review: Prithviraj breaks the typical 'hero' mold, challenges sexual stereotyping

Exploring a completely different dimension in his latest film Mumbai Police , Director Rosshan Anddrews delivers a fast-paced, thriller film after his award winning fims such as Udayananu Tharam, Notebook and others. To flesh out the script written by Boby Sanjay, Rosshan Anddrews ropes in actors such as Prithviraj, Rahman and Jayasurya to portray three police officers: Antony Moses, Farhan and Aryan respectively. The story begins with a phone call that Antony Moses (starring Prithviraj) makes to Farhan (starring Rahman) saying that he has solved the murder mystery of Aryan (starring Jayasurya). Just as he says this, there is an accident and Antony Moses loses his memory. From then, Farhan's attempt is to take Antony through people and places that are likely to trigger his memory so that they can solve the murder of their close friend and colleague Aryan. A series of events happen, almost hurtling us towards it.   And I am taking the liberty to hand out troph...
